I don't understand why my shift method is not passing a test-case?.Do I need to consider any edge cases?.

class is not used by the test at all.As I said to Souzooka below, I think preloaded code should be seen as an helper. But you can implement your solution in any other way.
Sample tests are slightly malformed and will not compile. Line 4 should be
double_list.push(10)
instead ofdouble_list_.push(10)

I would suggest changing the name of the variable "list" in your example tests, considering that it's the name of a Python data type and function.
