This solution is not valid, there is no checking for wrong ships placement. Try int[,] field = new int[10, 10] {{1, 0, 0, 0, 0, 1, 1, 0, 0, 0}, {1, 0, 1, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 1, 0}, {1, 0, 1, 0, 1, 1, 1, 0, 1, 0}, {1, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0}, {0, 1, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 1, 0}, {0, 0, 0, 0, 1, 1, 1, 0, 0, 0}, {0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 1, 0}, {0, 0, 0, 1, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0}, {0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0}, {0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0}};
