Do not use if or switch!

While you can easily do this with an if, switch or ternary statement, you should try to think around the corner.

You should forbid unwanted solutions. And if it's not a requirement, why do you even mention it?

You start at index 0 and iterate over the array n times

The wording is unclear. If I were told to iterate over an array n times, I'd understand it as for (int i = 0; i < n; i++) for (int j = 0; j < ARRAY_LENGTH; j++), and not as for (int i = 0; i < n; i++).
