Actually the long version here is wrong. 'return' is given inside the for loop which is wrong. You must be able to understand this now as I can see you are now 5kyu.
Personally I don't like the oneliners since they are not very readable.

well you can just try yourself to make a solution without numpy and without the determinat() method.
Took me a week, but i enjoyed it.
I´m still trying to make my own code for permutations ;)
