    apologies I used the wrong sign in my comment. I meant n(n +1)/2. the n-1 version would not have yielded 450

    Thanks for the quick response. Just putting the transmission loss aside. the total for each row of the matrix is n(n-1)/2. since your index is Zero based, max integer in this example is 4. the sum up to 4 is 10. multiply this value by the number of rows. this yields a max total without loss factored in of 450
