For example, {"A", "-", "Z"} would lead to "[A-Z]" in the regex

Very neat.
One drawback is that the "scores" list carries incomplete data (after the loop finishes, you will not be able to distinguish frames in the list).
So I didn't vote for "best practices", but voted for "clever"
