bjkoehle,you can't pass the tests with the negative shift.
Be sure that you use the modulus operator correctly. See this and this links.
Please do not create an issue, if you are not sure, where is the problem! 38 persons did this kata before in C++ without any problems.
So I don't think there is a problem in the kata.
I will check your code later and will try to help you finding the problem in your code.
