I think the problem is that you have separated firstname and lastname. I am a newbie as well, but as I understood test checks your code via string that contains both name and surname. By the way, the kata contains small tip: "This kata strictly takes two words with one space in between them.". So you've got to use this tip, because finding space can show the way to the first letter of surname.
