Both those tests are in the kata's description, the expected answer in both is 1 and it's counting the only consonant there, d, where do you see the a being counted?

There should be fixed tests in all languages where all chars are consonants. There are some solutions that sometimes pass when they shouldn't.

You're wrong there, aeiou are vocals, not consonants and are never treated as consonants. See the examples in the description again.
