Indeed, these are related. However, my kata is not a duplicate. My kata bundles together some very basic things around cycles. The first kata you mention is converting cycle notation of arbitrary permutations into a function that mimics the permutation on any arbitrary list. It's a bit more complicated than the convert cycle notation to the corresponding mathematical function. The second kata you mention spots cycles, but when the input is given not as an explicit function. I believe my kata offering a different form of exercise than the other two. For that reason, I'm marking as resolved.
