Nope, that's the condition for a right triangle, not for any triangles. Let the sides to be a,b,c and c is the longest side, then:

• Acute triangle: a^2 + b^2 > c^2
• Right triangle: a^2 + b^2 = c^2
• Obtuse triangle: a^2 + b^2 < c^2
