old thread, but I'd recommend hiding the actual regex in a variable that suggests it's regex so nobody ever has to guess what it is. If you know it's a "regular expression", then yes it's readable.

Parsing of strings with Date.parse is strongly discouraged due to browser differences and inconsistencies.
It's better to use constructor Date("date") IMHO.

so regex aren't case sensitive?

for some reason the encoding of some ascii characters is broken you can insert this code for a temperary fix:
