The language of the instructions uses:
"You need to" ... "by gradually pulling apart"
and
"You should repeat the following steps" ...
Yet also says:
"The Kata title gives a hint of one technique to solve."
implying you may solve it other ways.
If a kata demands the use of a specific technique then it should fail those that do not meet that requirement.
But this is not the case.
