Collections are a way for you to organize kata so that you can create your own training routines. Every collection you create is public and automatically sharable with other warriors. After you have added a few kata to a collection you and others can train on the kata contained within the collection.

You can probably push yourself as a human, then implement that in the machine. No dehumanising needed.
The reference implementation is really what I did by hand, nothing more (though quite a lot).

That is a little bit hard for me as I have implemented algorithm that I would use if I were to solve this problem myself (pure logic).
Now, I have to forget about my human nature and start thinking like computer (to find faster solution).
You are evil man as you are turning good humans into machines. But whatever. I will do it.. your way :) Just give me some time to push myself beyond my human limits :)
Don't optimise your code. Improve your algorithm.
There is room for 8×8 skyscrapers. People have crazy fast solutions.

I have similar problem.
Sample test passed in 2.5s but to pass entire Kata it is much harder =/.
In fact, it is very, very hard to optimize code (meanwhile waiting for 8x8 Skyscrapers :)

I count 13 "1kyu" katas, you only solved 5 "1kyu" katas, only python, so seems to me it's not all:-)...
Yup, many blue/purple katas are much easier than they looks/should be! :P

Looking at your profile page, it seems you solved 7 katas after posting this message that I guess you wrote just after having completed the minesweeper and in those 7 katas, you solved:
