I just guessed and it worked

Perhaps i ask questions from the limits of the solution. However the program itself must determine where the brightness boundary exists between "relevant" and "irrelevant" pixels?

The background is not perfectly white, and the foreground is not perfectly black; see the example images. Also, there will be pixels on the boundary between a white region and a black region that have intermediate brightness values.

"The values of the pixels array elements represent the brightness of the pixel on a grey scale, with 0 representing black and IMAGE_MAX (which is pre-defined to be 255) representing white."

Does it means, input image is partially blured?

If there's an error in the program, you should return the int value -1

Do i need realize a error handling? Or input will be correctly anyway?
